Homemade BBQ Sauce

Ingredients

1 Tblspoon - Canola Oil
2 Teaspoon - Minced Garlic
1 1/2 Cup - Ketchup
1/2 Cup - Spicy Brown Mustard
4 Tblspoon - Worcestershire Sauce
4 Teaspoon - Lemon Juice
1 Teaspoon - Black Pepper
1 Teaspoon - Onion Powder
1 Cup - Molasses
1/2 Cup - Malibu Bay (alcohol) <== for those who didn't already know :)
1 Cup - Brown Sugar (hard-packed)
1/2 Cup - Honey

note* This makes a lot of BBQ Sauce! If you want to make enough for just one dinner, you can always cut these ingredients in half. Or... you can use these measurements and have leftover sauce for a later date.

Cooking

In a medium to large saucepan on medium heat, add the canola oil then the minced garlic. You don't want to cook all of the way, but a slight browning to the garlic is enough to bring out the flavor. Add the Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, brown sugar, and Rum (be careful!!!), stir until the brown sugar melts and mixes evenly with the rest of the ingredients (no clumps). Once done, add in black pepper and onion powder, stir again. Finally, add the ketchup, spicy brown mustard, honey, and molasses, continue to stir until everything is mixed properly. Turn the heat down to a medium low and stir occasionally for about 10 minutes. Let the sauce cool, pour into a container and you are set.

note* This is a sweet BBQ Sauce, if you want something with a little more bite to it, cut the brown sugar in half, get rid of the honey, add some finely chopped jalapeno and/or habanero, cayenne pepper, and crushed red pepper.
